after several threats were made at several high schools. kennedy middle school and linbrook high school in san jose and were directed against a teacher in cupertino and forced a lock down at a elementary school. ktvu's ann rubin joins us with what authorities found. authorities found no bomb here at the school but there will be arrests when they find the people responsible for the threats. investigators are calling it -- >> reporter: investigators are calling it a hoax and a crime. >> people are messing around and things like that you shouldn't joke around about. >> it is not funny. >> reporter: authorities shut down the high school and the elementary school next door and three bomb sniffing dogs made

body of a adult female was found. the body was actually found floating in this creek. >> reporter: on most days homeless people gather in san jose but not today. a woman known to have live here was found face down in the water wednesday afternoon. police call it suspicious. friends say she was a drug addict. >> she is a nice person. she will do a lot for a lot of people. she went out there, you know, she has a few enemies from things she has done. >> reporter: the latest death had an impact on a memorial to remember the homeless who died on the streets this year. they conducted the ceremony where leaders read the names of names of the deceased.

there haven't been sightings of governor jerry brown since he announced yesterday he is being treated for prostate cancer. he is in the bay area for the treatment where he will keep a full work schedule. ktvu's ken pritchett joins us live from san francisco where there is speculation governor jerry brown could make an appearance tonight. >> reporter: he will have his 80 80th birthday party. i talked to a spokesman who

says the governor was invited but it is unclear if he will attend but we know that one day after the announcement that governor jerry brown promised he remains on the job. we have seen a slew of announcements over the past few weeks, yesterday they announced he would undergo radiation for prostate cancer. his doctors saying prognosis is excellent. it is the second time he faced a cancer fight with a skin cancer removed from his nose last year. he says politically speaking the health concerns may matter less to voters than the governor. >> if he was considering another term this might say do i want to spend the time and energy to be governor of california or maybe it is

somebody else's turn. brown's prostate cancer treatment is expected to be completed in january. that will be a very busy month for the governor. in san francisco, ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. nadia lockier's restraining order against an ex-boyfriend expired. mean time she remains in a drug rehab center. she is the wife of bill lockier. he filed for divorce. an audit report accused the board of supervisors of misusing funds. he used his county credit card for things not related to county business, restaurant meals and $4,000 for two bicycles. he agreed to reimburse some

expenses but challenging others. the court of appeals ruled that california has the right to make a cut in payments to medi- cal providers. they made the cuts to balance the budget. they approved them but a group of doctors and other providers sued and a lower court blocked the cuts. the court of appeals over turned that ruling. regulators are hailing a plan as a compromise between development goals and environmental protections. they approved a plan that will give more control to local governments. the focus will be on redeveloping older properties using environmentally friendly building practices. some say it mangles past protections. southern california is bracing for more wet, chilly

just in time for the holidays, officials launched a crack down on drunk driving. >> the campaign is called drive sober or get pulled over and features ads warning police will be watching for drunk drivers. they released new numbers showing alcohol related traffic deaths fell last year to 9800. in california 774 people died in drunk driving crashes last year. that is the same as 2010. parents are being warbed about a -- warned about a stroller. it effected baby jogger strollers. they were manufactured this year between may and august.
